A Few Tips on Your Perfect Hair Design (Style)

Are you looking for the perfect hair design (or hairstyle)?  Well, if you’re like most people, when you last tried to copy the hair design that was “in," the results were less than stellar. Why was that?

The real reason is this: a great hairstyle is all about bringing out your best features and hiding the worst ones. Let's face it: we all have some flaws, and our hair is the perfect gift that nature gave us to “camouflage” the not so attractive ones. And just because a hair design is “hot" right now, it doesn’t mean it’s the right one for you. So, how do we, at The Cutting Edge, tell which style is the best one for you?

The first thing we do is identify the actual “shape” of your face. Is it oval, round, square, long and narrow, pear-shaped, or heart-shaped? Everyone’s face has a distinct shape. The best way to figure out your own face shape is to simply take a headband and pull all your hair away from your face, then look closely into a mirror.  Is your face oval? Is it round? You should easily be able to tell.

Now, if you’re looking at a specific type of style that is “hot," notice the face shape of the person wearing the style. Is it the same as yours?  If it isn’t, it may not look as good on you as you might have originally thought. But the good news is there are plenty of hairstyles that are “hot” that can work with your face shape. At The Cutting Edge, we can use our expertise - and your opinion - to narrow the search.

However, let’s say you already have a great hairstyle that complements your face, but you feel it’s "tired," or old news. One way of transforming a "tired hairstyle" into a fresh-looking new style is to add some strategic lowlights or highlights. Brighten up the hair and you may be shocked at how “new” it will look.
